In a situation in which more and more activity is shifting to the Internet, people who we can consider digitally excluded for various reasons and to varying degrees become particularly exposed to social marginalization.

Digital competencies can be useful in various situations and phases of life, as well as at different stages of old age. For people in the peri-retirement period, they can serve to sustain professional and social activity, while with advancing age they can be helpful in the process of care, support, treatment. In almost all phases of life, digital skills can be used to establish and maintain contacts, communicate with others or expand the range of opportunities for attractive leisure activities. Especially now in the era of pandemics, the ability to communicate with the use of ICT is of great importance. Sometimes digital skills can be used by seniors to meet individualized needs as well.
Who else can benefit?
The usefulness of devices, applications, as well as digital competencies affects not only the senior, but also those around him/her. For this potential to be used more widely, it is necessary to counteract digital exclusion in its broadest sense, and the problem is extensive when it comes to aging generations.
